Small intestinal metastasis from small cell lung cancer.
A 71-year-old man who had small cell lung cancer was referred to our institution. Before starting chemotherapy, anemia progressed and stool examination was positive for occult blood. An abdominal computed tomography scan with contrast medium enhancement of the gastrointestinal tract disclosed a small intestinal tumor. Histological examination after the surgery confirmed that the tumor was metas...

Small cell carcinomas are most frequently localised within the lung, however, they also may be detected at extrapulmonary sites such as the gastrointestinal tract and the genitourinary tract. The confirmation of a small cell carcinoma outside of the lung may not necessarily indicate the presence of a metastasis, however, it also may represent the primary tumor itself. We present the case of a p...
متن کاملA Case of Intestinal Hemorrhage Due to Small Intestinal Metastases from Primary Lung Cancer
Although intestinal metastases from lung cancer are not rare at postmortem studies, the development of clinically significant symptoms from the gastrointestinal metastases is very unusual. We report a case of small intestinal hemorrhage leading to intestinal perforation secondary to metastases from a large cell carcinoma of the lung in a 31-year-old man along with a review of the literature.

Small bowel metastases from a primary lung carcinoma are rare. We report a case of a 59-year-old male with a primary small-cell lung carcinoma who developed anaemia and bowel symptoms. On colonoscopic examination he was found to have a tumour in the caecum near the ileocaecal valve, which was biopsied, revealing small neuroendocrine tumour cells. The patient then underwent systemic chemotherapy...
متن کاملEndobronchial metastasis from prostate cancer mimicking primary lung cancer.
Endobronchial metastasis from prostate cancer is a rare neoplasm which metastasizes to the proximal central or subsegmental bronchus, in a bronchoscopically visible range. We present a 72-year-old man with a left superior lobar bronchus mass, intrapulmonary metastases, and bone metastases, mimicking primary lung bronchogenic carcinoma. Increasing tPSA, decreasing fPSA/tPSA level, and prostatic ...
